Established in 1971, Griffith Pioneer Park Museum is an open-air heritage museum spanning 11 hectares and featuring more than 40 historic buildings. While we continually work to improve accessibility across the site, the heritage nature of many buildings means some areas may present accessibility challenges.

Our goal is to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy exploring the rich history, stories and heritage of the Griffith region. Pathways & Getting Around

The Museum spans 11 hectares and includes a combination of sealed pathways, gravel paths and grassed areas.

  • Many key attractions are accessible via sealed pathways.
  • Some historic buildings and exhibits have uneven surfaces, steps or narrow doorways due to their age.
  • Seating and rest areas are located throughout the Museum grounds.
  • We recommend wearing comfortable footwear and allowing plenty of time to explore the site.

 

 

Wheelchair & Mobility Access

  • Many outdoor areas and several Museum buildings are accessible for wheelchairs and mobility aids.
  • Due to the historic nature of some buildings, access may be limited in certain locations.
  • If you use a wheelchair or mobility aid, we encourage you to contact us before your visit so we can recommend the most suitable route and attractions.

 

 

Accessible Facilities

  • Accessible toilets are available on site.
  • Shaded picnic areas and seating are provided across the grounds.

 

 

Companion Card

Griffith Pioneer Park Museum proudly supports the Companion Card program.

Visitors presenting a valid Companion Card are entitled to complimentary admission for their companion where an admission fee applies.

Assistance Animals

Accredited assistance animals are welcome throughout the Museum in accordance with Australian legislation.

 

 

Group Visits

We welcome visits from aged care providers, disability organisations, schools and community groups.

Sensory Considerations

As an open-air heritage museum, the Museum offers a relaxed outdoor environment.

Visitors should be aware that:

  • Some demonstrations, machinery and special events may involve loud noises or increased visitor numbers.
  • Quiet outdoor spaces are available throughout the Museum grounds for visitors who may need a break from busy areas.
