School excursion activities
Train tour ride
Both students and carers will love a spin around the Museum in our very own Pioneer Park Museum train.

Old-fashioned games
Students will learn how children their age played before the era of computers, iPads, and television. Old-fashioned games include sack races, egg-and-spoon races, quoits, tug of war, three-legged-race, skipping, hoop-and-sticks.

History talk
A guided tour by the Museum’s curator and/or volunteers to teach students about the different aspects of Griffith’s history. History talks will be tailored to the current curriculum to suit students’ age, year group, and recent studies.

Old-fashioned school lesson
Students step back in time in Pioneer Park Museum's Wumbulgal School House, where they engage in a school lesson just like the old days! Students experience the differences between school today, and education in the past.

Scones in Fairview (additional cost)
Students experience cooking and domestic life of the early 1900s and learn about the Hill Family of Fairview.

Travelling Museum
For schools considering a more accessible alternative to school excursions to the Museum, Pioneer Park Museum offers an in-school program, the Travelling Museum. The program involves the Museum’s Curator bringing items from the Museum for children to look at and touch, supported by an interactive presentation and activity program relevant to the syllabus teachings of the particular age-group. For more information on the Travelling Museum please contact the Museum Curator, Fox Darcy at pioneerparkmuseum@griffith.nsw.gov.au
